Biological control of nematodes infecting eggplant in Egypt

چکیده
Abstract Background Eggplant is of great renown in Egypt and worldwide as it favorable high value vegetable crop. Yet, many plant-parasitic nematodes (PPNs) can penetrate the roots this plant feed on it, causing heavy losses its yield. Meloidogyne spp. (root-knot nematodes, RKNs) Rotylenchulus reniformis rank among these parasites Egypt. Main body abstract This review compiles PPN ecology, biology economic from pest management point view. Applying production practices other preventive methods against PPNs should be a priority. Accelerating unprecedented public concern about excessive use chemical nematicides leading to health problems, development resistance, environmental contamination, has boosted interest developing eco-friendly biologicals safe substitutional materials. Hence, biological control agents (BCAs) are reviewed herein prove that they quintessential nematode eggplant Thus, BCAs reliably operate with agricultural inputs integrated programs nematodes. Short conclusion A few paradigms shown which foster BCA practical via additive or synergistic relation compatible such compost, chemicals, manure. Upgrading their delivery techniques, beneficial interaction persistence fields nematode-infected eggplants broadly tested greatly disseminated.

Prevalence and pathogenesis of some filarial nematodes infecting donkeys in Egypt
AIM The primary objective of the present study is to determine the commonness of filarial parasites in donkeys in Egypt, identification of the filarial species tainting them and the delivered pathogenic impact connected with the infestation. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 188 donkeys were examined for filarial infection. The blood samples and scraping of the cutaneous bleeding lesions were ...
متن کاملDiversity of Ralstonia solanacearum Infecting Eggplant in the Philippines.
ABSTRACT The diversity of Ralstonia solanacearum strains isolated from eggplant (Solanum melongena) grown in five provinces of the Philippine island group of Luzon was assessed using a recently described hierarchical system. All strains keyed to race 1, biovar 3 or 4. Phylotype-specific multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) indicated that, like most other strains of Asian origin, all the st...
متن کاملPathogens for biological control of nematodes
This review briefly examines some of the earlier research that lists the natural soil enemies of plant-parasitic nematodes. The major emphasis is on research developments of the past decade that consider biological control of nematodes. The importance ofbiocontrol has arisen as a consequence of the loss of the two effective but hazardous nematicidal soil fumigants, namely dibromo-chloropropane ...
متن کاملToward practical biological control of parasitic nematodes in domestic animals.
In a series of laboratory and field experiments where the nematophagous fungus Arthrobotrys oligospora was mixed directly with feces it has been demonstrated that it is possible to use nematophagous fungi for biological control of animal parasitic nematodes. A procedure used for selection of nematophagous fungi that can pass the digestive tract of ruminants, horses, and pigs is described. The s...
متن کاملEntomopathogenic nematodes for the biological control of insects.
Nematode parasites of insects have been known since the 17th century (33), but it was only in the 1930s, that serious consideration was given to using a nematode to Control an insect. In 1929, Glaser and Fox (19) found a nematode infecting grubs of the Japanese beetle, PopilIiajaponica, at the Tavistock Golf Course near Haddonfield, New Jersey. Steiner (44) described the nematode that same year...
